Javier Palomarez, USHBC President & CEO, Mourns the Passing of Dolores Huerta

The United States Hispanic Business Council (USHBC) mourns the passing of Dolores Huerta, co-founder of the United Farm Workers and a pioneering advocate for farmworkers, civil rights, and the Hispanic community.

Javier Palomarez, USHBC President and CEO, issued the following statement:

“As the son of migrant farm workers, and a former migrant farm worker myself, I know the hard work and sacrifice behind the food on America’s tables. Dolores Huerta fought so families like mine could be heard, treated fairly, and given the opportunity to build a better future. Her passing is a great loss for our community and our nation. Her impact reached well beyond the fields. She helped generations of Hispanic Americans see themselves as leaders whose voices belonged wherever decisions about their future were being made. We owe her a debt of gratitude for the doors she opened and the courage and fortitude she inspired in us all. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, her colleagues, and everyone grieving her loss. May she rest in peace.”
