Troy Rawlings

Troy Rawlins has served as an elected District Attorney in Davis County, Utah since 2007. He has been re-elected a record four terms.  Mr. Rawlins brought to his post unique specialization in criminal law, evidence gathering and security, criminal procedure, juvenile law, and constitutional issues.  Through his leadership, the DA’s office has implemented policies and procedures that have led to record levels of success in the protection and safety of women and children.  Mr. Rawlins has handled numerous cases and has been involved in many jury and bench trials related to violent crimes against children and women. Several of Mr. Rawlins’ cases have received local and national television coverage on a variety of networks including CNN, Fox News and NBC.

Additionally, Mr. Rawlins has been published in the Utah Journal of Criminal Law and the American Journal of Trial Advocacy (America’s Oldest Law Review Publication).  He has earned a variety of state and national awards including being selected by his peers as one of Utah’s Legal Elite in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020, the Utah Attorney General’s Children’s Justice Award, the National Children’s Alliance Bud Cramer Award, the National Citizens Academy Award, and the Measures for Justice Commendation for being one of the top District Attorney’s Offices in the Nation.  

Mr. Rawlins earned his Juris Doctor (Law) Degree from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama.  He also holds Bachelor of Science Degrees in both Political Science and in Speech Communication from the University of Utah.  Over the course of his career, Mr. Rawlins has served on a variety of boards and professional associations including the NYU School of Law Advisory Committee, the National Center for Prosecutor Integrity, Utah Indigent Defense Fund, Utah State Bar, and the Utah Board of Juvenile Justice, by appointment of the Governor.
