In a new op-ed published in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, United States Hispanic Business Council President & CEO Javier Palomarez highlights how Hispanic entrepreneurs and small business owners will play a decisive role in the upcoming Texas Senate race.

Texas has a long tradition of entrepreneurship and is home to more than 3.5 million small businesses employing over 5 million workers. Hispanic entrepreneurs own roughly one-third of those businesses, making them a major force in the state’s economy.

The column points to the recent Democratic primary as an example of the growing influence of Hispanic voters and entrepreneurs. State Rep. James Talarico secured the Democratic nomination by building a coalition that resonated with Hispanic communities and rural voters, including outreach through Spanish-language media.

Palomarez argues that as the race moves toward November, candidates who want to represent Texas must engage the communities driving the state’s economic growth. In a state where Hispanic entrepreneurs are increasingly central to the economy, he writes, their priorities and participation will significantly shape the outcome of the election.
